Meet the Team

CLINICAL TEAM ROLES:

GENERAL PRACTITIONERS: Lead the team of clinical staff at the surgery.  They can offer advice on your health concerns and can refer you for further tests, treatment or onto a specialist if appropriate.

ADVANCED NURSE PRACTITIONERS (ANPs):   ANPs are highly trained (Masters level) and experienced nurses who can prescribe.  They can see patients with undiagnosed, undifferentiated medical conditions and make treatment decisions, including ordering necessary investigations. They can refer patients to secondary care. They can sign FIT notes.

URGENT CARE PRACTITIONERs (UCPs): UCPs are trained paramedic who are responsible for working via telephone, through face to face consultations and/or home visits to provide care, treatment and support to patients and provide assessments and clinical decision making.

PRACTICE NURSES: Appointments can be made to see one of the Practice Nurses who manage chronic disease and offer help and advice on minor illness, travel and vaccines.

PHARMACY TECHNICIAN:  Assists the doctors with checking medication after hospital discharges, changes in medication after a clinic appointment and helping with medication queries.  They may ring patients to check how they are getting on with their medication.

HEALTH CARE ASSISTANTS: Health Care Assistants are members of the Nursing Team who have undergone training to carry out a wide range of skills and tasks previously performed by Nurses e.g. taking blood, taking blood pressures, some vaccines such as flu, pneumococcal etc.

MEDICAL STUDENTS, STUDENT PHYSICIANS ASSOCIATES AND TRAINEE GPs:  We are proud to be a training practice and you may be offered an appointment with a student or trainee.  Face to face consultations provides a vital part of their training.  You will always be asked if you mind being seen by a trainee and no-one will be offended if decline.

COMMUNITY MIDWIVES:  are based at Llandrindod Hospital where they carry out a full range of antenatal and post-natal care.

HEATH VISITORS:  Also based at Llandrindod Hospital, look after the health of families with young children and can offer advice on feeding, development and vaccinations.

DISTRICT NURSING TEAM:   are based at the Llandrindod Wells Hospital but work closely with the Practice.  The District Nurses run the local ‘Leg Club’ for patients who require care of their leg ulcers.
